What is GED?

The American GED® (General Education Development) program is an internationally recognised alternative to Matric. It is a wonderful option for students in South Africa who have struggled in mainstream schooling, not completed Matric, or are being homeschooled and need a recognised high school qualification.

 

A GED® certificate is recognised as a high school leaving equivalent or Grade 12 equivalent in South Africa. It can open doors to further studies at colleges, technical institutions, and in some cases even degree programs. Students who do not immediately qualify for a degree can often complete a one-year higher certificate first and then continue to undergraduate studies.

 

The GED® is widely accepted internationally, including by most colleges and universities in the United States, as well as many institutions around the world. The teaching and learning are based in the USA, with South African students accessing the program online through PASS GED Academy.
